Please be patient as this is a new way of selling fish........the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the collapse of many traditional outlets for our catch, which is why we are now trying to sell directly from the boat........
Our usual catch would normally consist of plaice, thornback ray (skate) and dabs, plus more lucrative species such as bass, dover sole, brill, turbot and occasionally lobster making an appearance.......mackerel and gurnards also form part of our catch when they are in season.

About Us
Welcome to May Evans - BW 131 and the story behind the creation of this business.
Having previously been a commercial fisherman for over 20 years, I (with the help and support of my wife) decided to dust off my oilskins and have a go at fishing once again.
We spent a long time searching and waiting for the right vessel to come along.......then eventually we found what we wanted and purchased May Evans (BW 131) in January 2020. It’s nothing on a grand scale, just a small boat operating on a part time basis, catching and supplying small quantities of high quality, local fish that is offered for sale at an affordable price.......
Built on the popular and well proven IP23 hull, the May Evans is a small but sturdy vessel powered by a Lister HRW3 diesel engine rated at 42hp. This is a classic engine that was built to last, and is pretty economical on fuel, thus helping to reduce running costs, and with the added advantage of minimising the carbon footprint from our operations.
To achieve our goal we first had to invest in a suitable boat, then we had to track down and invest another substantial sum of money into purchasing a fishing licence for the boat (without the licence you cannot legally sell fish) and then finally we had to equip the boat with the right gear to catch the fish........not a cheap “hobby” by any means !!
Our aim is to supply some of the freshest locally caught fish you will ever get, whilst being able to enjoy the natural beauty of the sea, and all it has to offer.......In short, we get to be up close to nature and work in an environment we love........you get the best quality fish available at a very good price.
The availability of fish will vary considerably due to the small size of the May Evans. The weather has a huge effect on our operations and we can often go long periods of time without being able to put to sea. Also, the species caught will vary depending on the time of year, therefore we can’t guarantee regular supplies of fish.
